WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Concrete Facade

I really enjoyed Luke's course. It was well thought out and planned. He managed to pack plenty of useful information into a six week course. He always gave good feedback and handouts and created a safe atmosphere where learners felt able to ask questions and discuss ideas.

I cannot thank Luke enough for the support I received, and inspiration I gained, from the six week novel writing course. The sessions he led were hugely creative, insightful, and well-structured. Thanks to the course, I have gained confidence in my writing, and understand how to approach the world of publishing. I will undoubtedly keep hold of Luke’s encouragement when writing future tales. Not only that, I have made friends with like-minded, creative writers, and I look forward to seeing them soon in our very own writing group.

Thank you again for a very enjoyable six weeks of creative fun!

Like many people, I had always felt the urge to write but never had the confidence to do anything about it. My husband eventually got me to enter a writing competition, run by the Friends of St Ives Library. All of the people involved in this, including Luke Dimech, were so encouraging, warm and enthusiastic that I decided to enter. Despite being unbelievably nervous and feeling quite vulnerable sharing my work, the whole experience was fantastically positive, and it gave me the impetus needed to book onto Luke's 6 week creative writing course. The whole thing has been amazing! I've learnt so much, I feel motivated and I've got a bit more confidence. On top of all of that, I also had a lot of fun too. Luke is a great teacher and it was clear he'd put so much thought and care into each of the 6 lessons. Not only did he encourage us all and provide astute guidance but he gave all of us the confidence to just write and to enjoy the process. Luke continually offered help and support and built us into a lovely team, so much so we have now formed our own little writing group together now the course has finished.

One of the most invaluable practices on this course was the willingness for everyone to share unfinished work and receive feedback for further development, this was largely due to the nurturing, non-judgemental environment that Luke created.

It's been really lovely to spend time in the company of inspiring, creative and warm hearted individuals who put me at ease. If, like me, you're unsure if you could do this, feel anxious or worried, I'd really urge you to try. I'm so glad that I did!
